Have you or your child had an otoplasty? (ear pinning)?

My son is 2 years old and was born with a skull deformity called congenital plagiocephaly and wore a cranial remolding helmet the first year of his life for 23 hours a day. His skull is much better although he does have a lot of facial asymmetry. His cranio-facial plastic surgeon suggested an otoplasty to correct the protruding ears and give him some more symmetry. He said it would be best to do young, before school starts. I am looking for more information on this...I know they can use general anesthesia or local...they may stay overnight or may not....etc. What was your experience if you don't mind sharing? Thank you!
